Common Pitfalls (And How to Avoid Them)

"The agent hallucinates facts"

Fix: Don't ask the agent to recall facts from memory. Give it the source data. Load the document, the email thread, or the database record into context — then ask it to reason about that specific content.

"The workflow breaks randomly"

Fix: Add error handling at every step. If a tool call fails, the agent should log the error and either retry or notify a human — not silently produce bad output.

"The agent does too much"

Fix: Narrow the scope. The best agents do one thing really well. Stack small, reliable agents rather than building one giant agent that tries to do everything.

"I can't tell what the agent did"

Fix: Logging is non-negotiable. Every agent run should write a log: what it received, what it decided, what it did, and what it produced. You can't debug a black box.
